Climate change. Now we all have heard of climate change. It’s been heard in the news, school, and just around home. Climate change may not be the most controversial topic, but it comes close. Many people believe that climate change is not a real thing because they have not seen the effects. However that is not true. As we know the ice caps are melting. This is because the planet is heating up. The planet is heating up because the carbon dioxide levels are very high. For centuries the carbon dioxide levels have never been above 300 million. However, in the recent century, those levels have skyrocketed and surpassed it by 100 million levels. That has only happened in the last century. Climate change has had many effects. Some these effects is the Earth heating up, shrinking ice caps, growing acidity in the water, and the ocean being warmer. In addition, more animals are becoming extinct or are being seen less. Their habitats are changing because of climate change. The animals who cannot adapt to their new habitats will die. For example, the world’s largest bee (Wallace’s giant bee). It has recently been seen on an island in Indonesia. However the last time it was see was in 1981. This is another effect of climate change. Animals can be seen less and less because their population is decreasing. These effects have only happened in the last century. According to leading climate change scientist around the world, if no change is done to Earth in the next 12 years, then the effects will be permanny. Drought, floods, and other natural disasters with worsen over the next years if nothing is done. All hope is not lost. There are some ways that climate can be helped. Three ways to solve this is by using renewable energy, reduce our pollution in the world, and finally using less trash. The fight for climate change is a hard but you can be the one to stop it.
