Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Shields

Noa Criscaut

Mrs. Shields is a 7th-grade language arts teacher and a journalism teacher for 6th,7th and 8th grade. She has always wanted to pursue a career in teaching, she used to work in hospitality, cruise ships and Disney World, but she would  always find a way to be around children, and thanks to that she new its was a perfect fit for her to become a teacher

Mrs.shields has only taught 7th grade as a subject but as elective Journalism, she is teaching 6th through 8th grade. She always had a connection to the 7th grade because when she was in 7th grade herself, her father passed away.

Mrs. Shields graduated from FSU with a bachelor’s degree and has a master’s degree in English education.

At home, she had 3 kids and two dogs, a much more chill house environment. Growing up with 12 children in the house it was always very crazy. As you know Mrs. Shields has a travel club and as a child, she would always travel to North Carolina with all of her family “for 3 months”.

Before teaching in WLMS Mrs.Shields also taught in Broward County and also taught  College at Southeast University. After that she started teaching in WLMS she knew it was a fit.

Thank you for all your hard work and thank you for being a SuperStarrr Mrs. Shields!
