Billie Jean King is an American tennis player whose advocacy throughout the years has done amazing work for women’s equality issues.

“Women get the attention when we get into the men’s arena, and that’s sad.” King had said. She had also said that it’s hard for women to lead in comparison to men.

King has done many amazing things for women in sports. In 1973, she beat Bobby Riggs in the “Battle of the Sexes.” This was an extremely important moment because it showed the entire world that women can play just as well, or even better than a man. She co-founded World TeamTennis, which is a professional sports league where both men and women play.

King co-founded women Sports magazine and used the Women’s Sports Foundation to provide girls with access to sports. She founded the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative, a nonprofit to achieve more diversity in the workplace.
