In Brazil, scientists have discovered fossil remains of the plant called Cycads/Cycadales.

Cycadales are very rare. There are about 350 different species of them. The best-known is the Sago’s Palm.

Early flowering plants have been around for over 120 million years. They were overwhelmed by the rapid emergence and evolution of flowering plants, which can reproduce faster and adapt to changes in their environment.

“The idea is: Wow, we have one of those kinds of things here in Brazil and the other in China,” Dr. Stevenson said. “The guys have to be a lot older than we have so far in the fossil record to get all over the earth.”
