Algae Blooms in Man Made Lakes and Oceans Harming Many

Elena Carter, Writer

There is a huge problem: there are algae growing in man-made lakes. The bigger problem is that people are not helping out and making it way worse.

Recently, Hurricanes like Ian have been ruining man-made lakes and oceans. It has ruined the underground of the lakes and destroyed reefs. Scientists and researchers who were in the Gulf of Mexico following the hurricane said “Left in its wake red tide and destroyed artificial reefs.” Even though the hurricane was a month ago it’s still affecting everyone.

Not to mention that tourists aren’t making it any better. Their boats are hurting wildlife too, with the death count being 719 manatees deaths and 982 last year. The total cost of the economic impact was 13.8 billion.
