Peer Pressure: What Is It?

BellaDonna P., Editor

Peer pressure is an experience every student has had to experience at least once whether it’s at school or online.

Peer pressure is when a student, most likely a ‘friend’, makes or pressures another student to do something that they do not want to do. Things such as cheating or stealing are the most common types.

Almost every time a student goes through peer pressure because they can not find the courage to say no. Students who cause peer pressure usually make others do things they normally would not, because if caught, will not be the ones in trouble.

What is the point of making students do what you want?  It makes them feel powerful and some make it feel as if it is a test to prove if they are a real friend or not.
