“The WPBL has announced plans in October to launch in 2026 as a six-team circuit for female players,” states AP News. It’s been at least 70 years since women have had their own baseball league and now they have an opportunity to shine again.
Since women’s sports such as basketball and soccer have become more popular, this has encouraged Justine Siegal, founder of WPBL (Women’s Professional Baseball League), to open a women’s league. “This is definitely a great time for women’s sports and pro sports as men and others have finally figured out how great women are as athletes,” explains Siegal.
Justine Siegal, known as the first female coach employed by the MLB (Major League Baseball) is once again making history. Siegal and co-founder Keith Stein already have notable athletes for the league such as World Series-winning manager and Japanese pitcher Ayami Sato who won the World’s Women Baseball Cup five times.
