Just Recently, the Oxford University Press had chosen to declare the word ‘Brain rot,’ as their annual word of the year.
2024’s word of the year has served as one of the more bizarre decisions for word of the year.
The way they chose the word was by using analysis and votes to decide their decision for their word of the year. This year, though, the people have decided to choose brain rot as the word of the year.
This decision was reasoned by the greater presence of the term used by social media and everyday people.
Their purpose for choosing the word brain rot is meant to be “a word or expression that reflects a defining theme from the past 12 months.”
Further, Oxford University Press defines the term brain rot as “the supposed deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as the result of overconsumption of material.”
