For the third year in a row, a resident named Eshter Keim, drops off turkeys to homes that aren’t easily accessible to grocery stores. She flys slow and low over homes in south central alaska. Only about 20% of Alaska is roads, the rest is wilderness.
Esther has dropped off 32 turkeys to neighbors. She has been doing this since she was little. Keim makes 30 to 40 turkey deliveries yearly, flying as far as 100 miles from her base north of Anchorage toward Denali’s foothills.
Sometimes she enlists a “turkey helper” to help toss the birds and ride along. She usually buys about 20 turkeys at a time and wraps them in plastic bags. Her reward from all this is the great responses from families.
