Gout Gout, an Australian teenager, just set the record for the fourth-fastest, under 18, 100m run in history. Gout Gout clocked in at the All-Schools Athletics Championships in Queensland at 10.4 seconds. The run, which doesn’t count in official records, was the fourth-fastest Australian run of any age.
Gout first ran in 2022 when he ran the 100m in 10.57s when he was 14. Last Friday, Gout ran a legal 10.17s in the final, the sixth-fastest legal run time under 18, beating his personal best of 10.29, and beating the previous, under 18, Australian record held by Sebastian Sultana. In the last two years, Gout has drawn comparisons to Usain Bolt.
Gout gained further attention in August when he clocked in at 20.60s in the 200m during the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships, where he was 0.01 seconds faster than 15-year-old Usain Bolt managed in 2002. Gout will run in the 200m event in Queensland on Saturday, Dec 7, 2024.
