As of now, it’s the later part of the winter season, it’s one of the coldest weeks it’s been this whole season. And getting something on your line these next couple of months can be difficult, even here in South Florida.
Though, what you can do to bounce back from these issues is by generally avoiding freshwater. Freshwater game fish can be lethargic, meaning they will not put the effort into taking your bait.
Coastal areas, which are, for the most part, warmer all around, will allow you to make some great catches this season. Here in South Florida, local fish populations, if not adapted, may not actually end up being lethargic during the winter anyways.
Night and morning fishing will also become more difficult as these fish which increase in lethargy will have these effects increased with the extra cold in the morning and at night.
This is why you could hold onto a late morning-midday fishing session this season to potentially catch more fish when it’s warmer during the days.
