On January 16th, 2025, Nintendo, the popular gaming company responsible for the Super Mario characters, announced that it would be releasing a sequel to the popular Nintendo Switch console, this time known as the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo has not yet announced an official release date for the new console, but it has said it will be released sometime this year.
In the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement video there is a clip of what is presumed to be Mario Kart 9. The clip suggests that there will be 24 players in one race a big upgrade from the 12 in Mario Kart 8. For those who don’t know Mario Kart is a game where you can race as one of many popular Nintendo characters such as the aforementioned Mario in different tracks and courses while playing against your friends.
From the images Nintendo has shared it appears that the Switch 2 will have a similar look to the first Switch featuring two joy cons that can be taken off and used as individual controllers on each side of the console with the screen in the middle. The Switch 2 looks like it will be a great new console to play on with exciting games.
