In Wellington, New Zealand, a cat named Mittens is mistakenly left on a plane and becomes a common flyer. Mittens was in a suitcase when their owner forgot about them.
Mittens was on 3 flights in 24 hours going from New Zealand to Australia, including a one-way flight from Christchurch to her new home Melbourne, Australia. Mittens owner claimed that she waited at baggage claim for Mittens but there was no sign of her for over 3 hours. Originally, the staff told Mittens’s owner that Mittens was on the plane, but that plane had already left to go to New Zealand.
Mittens owner was in shock and worried about her cat. It would take 7.5 hours on the plane to get Mittens back to her owner. The airline went to action. They turned the heat on in the cargo to make sure the cat wouldn’t be cold.
Eventually, Mittens safely returned to her owner. Mittens owner stated, “She basically just ran into my arms and just snuggled up in here and just did the biggest cuddles of all time.”
