A beautiful house that overlooks Cape Cod is slowly being destroyed due to weathering and erosion taking away the cliff it sits on. Unfortunately, throughout the years, the owner has had to remodel his house and remove the stairs going down to the water. Later on, he sold it to a salvage company.
Many farmers complain that it will disrupt oyster farms, and will fall into the ocean. A report claims that it will collapse in 3 years, if not sooner. The report also stated that some debris could go into Wellfleet harbor where some oysters can take 2 to 3 years to be ready for harvest. Not only is the debris a serious issue, but all the fiberglass and other toxic materials could do even more harm.
Many people are complaining about what to do with the house. Right now, it is left to the town’s care and they are left to watch and wait for the house to eventually get taken down, or fall. If this house is not removed soon, it could cause serious damage to the town.
