The new Smurfs movie comes out this year on July 18th, starring musical artist Rihanna. Director Chris Miller has casted multiple well known actors and artists, including Rihanna as Smurfette, John Goodman as Papa Smurf, Nick Offerman as Razmel, and Kurt Russell as Gargamel.
The plot of the movie is that the Smurfs go on an adventure to save Papa Smurf when he is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel. Some of the voice cast includes Kurt Russell, John Goodman, and Xolo Maridueno who is famous for his appearance on Cobra Kai. Rihanna has teased this new movie on her Instagram platform stating, “In my blue era”.
She also produced the film and wrote original songs for the soundtrack. The movie is a reboot of the Smurfs film series, with the last installment being “Smurfs: The Lost Village” in 2017.
