Recently, meteorologists have found that the weather patterns in Florida have changed and have a chance of causing future problems in the area. Increased rainfall, record-breaking temperatures, and flooding are just a few things happening from this. These events are believed to be caused by climate change.
According to the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), “In this region, moisture, instability, and wind shear will come together to promote the development of thunderstorms that are capable of producing damaging winds and perhaps a tornado or two.” In 2024 alone, there were a total of four tropical cyclones and seven severe storms, which is almost double the number from the year before (2023).
Lately, the number of natural disasters has been going up substantially. In 2025, CSU has predicted “17 named storms, 9 of which are expected to become hurricanes, and 4 of those being major hurricanes.” If this number continues to increase every year we will be facing a major threat to the safety of our society.
