On May 30, 2025, the new Karate Kid: Legends movie will be released. It has been 41 years since the original movie (The Karate Kid) came out, and since then, there have been three remakes of the movie, plus a series (Cobra Kai) which is a spin-off of them. The original karate kid, Ralph Macchio, as well as other actors such as Jackie Chan and Ben Wang will star in the movie.
The movie is set in New York City, where a teenager (named Li Fong) skilled in kung fu is in search of extensive training and assistance in order to win a karate competition. Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso step in to help, teaching the young prodigy a variety of techniques and knowledge of both styles (kung fu and karate). This allows Li Fong to prepare for the competition and hopefully win.
The movie, Karate Kid: Legends, has a production budget of $150,000,000. Which is a huge amount compared to the original cost of The Karate Kid movie, which was $8,000,000. Though due to inflation, that amount now would actually be closer to $25,000,000 million dollars. Still, that is about six times the cost of the initial value.

Honestly, I’m not too excited for this movie. I really enjoyed the original three movies and some seasons of Cobra Kai, but it seems like the franchise is getting too over the top.
