As of Apr 21, 2025, all Oscar voters will no longer be able to skip watching the nominated movies. But in past years, the movies that get more commonly watched win, so to give all movies a better chance, they have enforced this rule.
For your movie to qualify for the Oscars, it has to run in theaters for 7 consecutive days with one screening per day. Movies are voted for by a voting ballot, where members cast ballots for their favorite films.Â
On Monday, the Oscars also put regulations on using AI for the nominated movies. They did not ban it, but they have a new rule that AI will not help a film get nominated or disadvantage it. But judges will consider human creativity. Filmmakers also do not have to disclose whether or not they used AI in their film. Â
