Just recently, Pope Francis passed away on April 21, 2025. The Pope was 88 years old when he passed. The Pope was the head of the Holy See, the Catholic Church in Rome. He was a major global idol, and he will be missed.
However, many people are wondering, what’s next? Well, after the news spread about his death, many people mourned over the loss. There were many memorials held all across the globe for him. Although they must now choose a new Pope.
In order to choose a new Pope, the College of Cardinals will meet at the Sistine Chapel and they will vote from among the candidates until there is one left. 80% of the College of Cardinals were chosen by Pope Francis himself. This means it is their first time electing a Pope. To become the Pope, you have to get ⅔ majority vote from the College of Cardinals.
