At the beginning of April Malcolm Todd released his self-titled album ‘Malcolm Todd’. He is a slightly less known artist only having about 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify right now. He released the lead single ‘Chest Pain (I Love)’ on December 4 2024.
The album itself includes 14 songs and a 37 minute runtime so it is a quick listen with a lot of memorable tracks like ‘Bleed’, ‘Make me a Better Man’, Concrete, and ‘Walk to Class’. The album includes topics like grief, heart-break, and self-doubt.
In the opening song ‘Harry Styles’ Malcolm talks about how he’s scared that if he doesn’t make over pop heavy music like Harry Styles people will ignore him and leave him with no one to listen to his music. The song also includes a cool reference to Tyler, the Creator’s festival Camp Flog Gnaw in the line “I wasn’t picked for Flog Gnaw, now I’m waking up at 10:00”.
To wrap things up this album is a mix of RnB and rock. It is really good and catchy and if you have the time you should give it a chance you might just find a new favorite artist.
