FAST tests need to stop because of a couple reasons. First is that it can be so stressful for students. Second is that it is hard for students to study because they have no idea what’s on the test. And last is that this one single test may not show their accurate performance.
Testing for students can be very stressful not only because of the actual test but the stress leading up to it. The majority of the time the stress is caused by the fact that students have no idea what will be on the test. It is hard for students to have an idea before they are even taking the test.
Students are also very commonly put in classes that are too high or low for them, because the test scores are what determine the classes you will be placed in for the next year. Say a student completely fails the first test and gets put in an intensive class, but has all As in every class. That’s simply not fair. That’s why the FAST tests need to stop.
