Schools should not have a dress code for many reasons. Having a dress code restricts students to be creative and express themselves, while not having one allows students to express themselves and their feelings through their style and aesthetics. Not having a dress code also allows students to be comfortable and flexible during school hours. Dress codes make everyone look and feel the same while not having a dress code enhances a more inclusive and diverse environment, allowing everyone to express themselves while being comfortable.Â
Eliminating dress codes can also encourage students for a sense of trust and personal responsibility within the school which leads to a greater student satisfaction and engagement. Having a dress code can also be expensive for certain schools and uniforms, so not having a dress code can also save money and not financially burden people just for school uniforms.Â
Eliminating a dress code can also improve focus and engagement because when students are comfortable in what they are wearing, students are more likely to focus more on their work and engage better with other students. In my opinion, having a dress code has many cons and disadvantages.Â
