Every year students get assigned a mandatory reading project to do over the summer, and it ends up being one of their first grades in language arts the next school year. What the teachers don’t consider is the amount of stress and work that happens when doing the projects, which takes away from the peace that summer break is supposed to bring. After all, summer break is supposed to be a break from school, not a time for more work.
It should not be mandatory to do this project over the summer, if anything it should be given to us after school starts because summer isn’t for school work. Most of the time we already have other work to do during the summer so the project just adds to the workload and also adds more stress to summer break where we are supposed to be having quality time with family and friends and also just taking a break from school. It also gives more work for teachers.Â
Â
Though not all educators agree with not giving summer projects, students are just finishing their projects to get it done. They are not gaining any knowledge, which defeats the purpose of the project altogether.

Definitely, where is the fun in using your time doing a dumb boring project instead of doing what you like.
Roberto • Sep 20, 2024 at 11:18 am
I agree it has no point because we already read a book in ELA class
