Red Bull Hardline is an elite, invite-only downhill mountain bike race renowned as the world’s most challenging MTB event. Founded by Dan Atherton in 2014 in Wales, it blends steep, technical downhill terrain with massive, freeride-style jumps and drops. It now features events in both the UK and Tasmania, Australia.
Also in 2025, Asa Vermette had a standout season in downhill mountain biking, highlighted by winning the prestigious Red Bull Hardline in Wales with a time of 2:24.477, becoming the youngest winner ever. He finished 2nd overall in the 2025 Junior Men’s UCI World Cup series with 467 point.
The bikes at Red Bull Hardline are specialized, high-travel downhill (DH) mountain bikes designed to withstand massive jumps, steep technical terrain, and high speeds, often featuring “mullet” setups (29-inch front wheel, 27.5-inch rear). Common bikes include the Specialized Demo, Trek Session, and custom-built machines with over 200mm of suspension travel. Also I go mountain biking but not as hard as that event.
