This year’s dunk contest was quite underwhelming to say the least. The fans were very disappointed by the dunks that were performed, rightfully so, considering they were very mediocre. There hasn’t been a single notable dunk contest that had any form of hype since 2016.
According to ESPN, it was a face-off between Zach Lavine, and Aaron Gordon. Some of the best dunks in history were done in this single contest, and it is regarded as the best dunk contest ever. Fans have been requesting some other event in place of the dunk contest, because they are no longer satisfied with the quality of the event. Some argue for 1v1s between top players, some say to just scrap the event all together.
Overall, the dunk contest has been disappointing for the past couple of years, even more so this year. A solution needs to be found whether it be a different event, or an adjustment to the original.
