On Sunday, March 22nd, the 1st seed played the 9th seed in March Madness. The 1st seed being the Gators, and the 9th seed being Iowa. Nearly everyone believed that Florida would win over Iowa, and for good reason. They were viewed as one of, if not the best team in college basketball.
Despite all this, Iowa beat the Gators 73-72. Iowa was trailing all game, and at the end it was 70-72 in favor of the Gators. Just then, 3 seconds to the buzzer, Folgueiras made the game winning shot for Iowa, sealing the game.
Final score: 73-72, Iowa. According to ESPN, the odds on Kalshi greatly favored the Gators to win. Florida was listed at -575 to win, while Iowa was at a mere +420. To emphasize just how incredibly unprecedented this upset was, over 90% of March Madness brackets were destroyed by it.
