During a parade in Rio de Janeiro, twelve dogs come out in cute costumes such as mermaids, superheroes, clowns, and butterflies. The parade accumulated around 200 people on the streets of Rio’s beachside neighborhood Barra de Tijuca on a Saturday.

During the parade, they would introduce the dogs on a small stage. They had announcers and confetti for the dogs. One of the dogs, Alana, was dressed as a mermaid, and Tried, a cocker spaniel, was Hermione. Many dogs were loved by the crowd such as Scooby Doo who was dressed as a lion.

However, some dogs stood out, not for the outfits but because they were “influencers.” Pacoca, a dachshund dog, has 100,000 followers on Instagram. He wore a hotdog costume. Many dog parents are very happy about this parade. “For dog parents, it’s a way for us to have fun,” said Daniely Mendes. “It brings our community together.”
