Now, not only humans will be enjoying the spooky season, but their furry companions, too. From Chick-fil-a to the Kissing Booth, loads of costumes could be seen adorning these canines while trick-or-treating.
The costumed companions made their way through Lansing’s Old Town district, stopping outside restaurants, jewelry stores, and gift shops where the owners of these establishments were waiting with treats and head pats. Some of the dogs seen at the event include Alicia’s town’s dog, Mojo, dressed as a tank driver —an ode to Town’s husband serving in the military. Another dog attending the event was Makenzie Smith-Emrich’s pitbull, Sadie, dressed as the kissing booth pumpkin. Ms. Smith-Emrich said, “This is something we wait for all year, because it’s something that we can do with our dogs that they absolutely adore.” “And they get to dress up, and people give them attention.”
This event is annually organized by a local pet store, Preuss Pets. The number of dogs available to participate is set at 200, and they have to be preregistered by their owners. The General Manager, Kirbay Preuss, mentioned Howloween is “joyous” and “a very good thing.” She also said, “I think right now with everything going on in the world, we need more joyous events, and that’s what this is.”
