On April 22, 2026, five students from Hancock Middle School in Mississippi acted quickly and bravely when their bus driver, Leah Taylor, suddenly passed out. McKenzy Finch, Jackson Casnave, Darrius Clark, Kayleigh Clark, and Destiny Cornelius took control of the situation. They steered the bus away from traffic and hazards, brought it safely to a stop, and applied the brakes. One student called 911, and emergency responders arrived to help the driver. Because of their quick thinking and teamwork, every student on the bus was kept safe and the driver received medical care.
The school honored the five students for their courage and clear-headed actions. The driver recovered and personally thanked them for saving her life.
Their actions showed how staying calm, working together, and acting without hesitation can make a huge difference in an emergency. These students became a powerful example of responsibility and bravery for their community. They inspired pride across their entire town.
