On October 13, 2025, the USL (United Soccer League) announced that the city of Port St. Lucie had been awarded a USL League 1 team, second on the USL pyramid after the USL Championship, the highest USL league.
Port St. Lucie Sports Club will play in a brand-new 6,000-seat stadium in a new, redeveloped area called Walton and One. Walton and One will also have numerous shops and other amenities. Port St. Lucie Sports Club will also have a youth academy, providing a pathway to professional soccer.
Port St. Lucie is scheduled to play its first game in 2027, for the USL League One 2027-28 season. Other teams in the USL’s expansion plan are Sarasota Paradise, Fort Lauderdale United, and Fort Wayne FC.
