Did you know that beneath the sea there are huge extinct volcanoes where tons of sea creatures live, like sharks ,dolphins , sponges,sea stars,fish,and octopuses.Many Scientists say that there are so many animals living at these volcanoes that there are unknown species of animals that we haven’t even discovered yet.There are more than 100,000 underwater volcanoes across the world but less the .1% have been discovered.During a recent expedition to these amazing volcanoes scientist have discovered abundant of apex predators like sharks living among each other.Researcher Sam Weber went on a 16 day research trip to the sea to tag sharks and gather information about these community of sharks.

After 16 days of catching and tagging sharks with a group of fisher men researcher concluded that 41 times more sharks living with each other at the Southern Seamounts.The Southern Seamounts supported 5 times more diversity and 30 times more biomass then the open ocean,it also included many endangered species of animals like the Silky Shark,Yellowfin and Bigeye tuna.Although researchers still don’t know why these underwater volcanoes gain so much popularity among aquatic creatures it’s still an amazing sight to see.
