E-Bikes have been an issue in Florida, especially as of recently. Kids driving recklessly, clogging up roads with their “Ride-Outs”, and just causing problems. But all these problems may come to an end soon.
Florida is passing new laws that restrict and regulate who can own and operate e-bikes. According to Fox-13 Tampa Bay, the Florida government will be issuing a law that requires a license to operate a class 3 e-bike (28 mph or higher) so you probably won’t be seeing many kids on those. And for anyone who thinks they can get away with it by modifying a slower bike to try and hide its class, you’re out of luck.
The government will also be outlawing modifying ebikes to exceed manufacturer speed limits. People who own e-bikes right now that will become ineligible for ownership or operation, may be very upset because these bikes are very expensive. Essentially, ebikes will be much less regular and exclusive now after these changes, which some will like, but others not so much.
