In Australia last week there was a record breaking heat wave which brought temperatures way above 100 degrees fahrenheit; because of these high temperatures there are many bush fires and even people missing as a result of the wildfires.
According to a NYTimes article “Officials said that the combination of heat, wind, and dryness had created the worst conditions since Australia’s devastating Black Summer bush fires of 2019 and 2020”. Almost every state and region in Australia was under high alert for severe and extreme heat warnings, which extended throughout the weekend.
The three people that had gone missing were, two adults and a child. They were last seen on the 8th, Thursday morning near a bush fire in the area of the center of the state of Victoria. The people were warned to take shelter because of how risky it would be to evacuate because of how bad the fire was getting. Officials returned in the afternoon and said that the individuals were not accounted for as of Friday the 9th.
