Many schools, as of late, have been staggering in students from other countries. However this trend doesn’t seem to have affected UC Berkeley as international student enrollment grew by 43%.
Comparing this sharp increase to a 17% decrease in campuses nationwide, it’s clear that UC Berkeley stands as an outlier in international enrollment in the US.
UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore said that they wanted to enroll more international students this year to compensate for a dip in the last year.
Even with this increase in international students a majority of the student body is nevertheless still Californians. And to put into perspective how many students that is, there are about 46,151 new students enrolled, the biggest ever student body UC Berkeley has had. This means over 20,000+ California students enrolled in UC Berkeley.
Even despite this it is still impressive at the amount of international students UC Berkeley has enrolled, compared to other universities in the US.
