A record breaking heat wave is hitting the United States right now. This is all due to a heat dome where heat is being trapped in by high pressure. This wave is not a short time problem, it’s going to last for weeks. Meteorologist Gregg Gallina from the Weather Channel says, “And it’s not going away for awhile, maybe not until the middle of the next week as April starts.”
Currently the heat dome is moving eastward from the American Southwest. This heat dome will bring temperatures of over 90 degrees to a large part of the country. The Weather Service says, “On Friday four places in Arizona and California hit 112 degrees fahrenheit or 44 degrees celsius”
During such intense heat waves it is important to stay hydrated and drink lots of water. Also look out if there is a heat warning issued.
