A worker in Cedar Hills, Utah, was buried up to his neck at a construction site.

The American Fork Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 9969 North 4000 West where they found a 20-year-old man. Fortunately, his head wasn’t covered and he was only buried to his chin.

He became trapped because of a 10-foot trench that collapsed over him. The Utah Valley Metro Special Response Team was called in and they airlifted him from the scene. They used a vacuum truck to remove the dirt and rescue him.

He was transported in a medical helicopter and is currently in serious condition. He was a private contractor working on a sewer line with three others workers. 40 to 50 first responders were dispatched to the scene to help and assist.

Because we don’t know what exactly happened and what caused the collapse, OSHA teams are investigating the incident.
