On January, 8, 2026 the popular game, Minecraft, announced a new update will be coming to the game. This update will include newly designed models for mobs such as chickens, cows, dogs, cats, pigs, and dogs. As of January, 14, 2026 the update does not have an official name but many are calling it the, “Cute Mobs Update.”
In 2025 Minecraft announced that instead of the typical one big update a year system they would be changing it to four smaller drops throughout the year. This will be the first update of the year. The update does not have an official release date but it is speculated that it will be released during the spring of 2026.
The update not only is adding cute mobs to the game but it also includes a new crafting recipe to make name tags, lighting enhancements and quality of life updates.
