The Sag-Aftra actor awards recognize great actors and films of the year. This year’s awards turned out quite unexpected and were very interesting.
For one, Kristen Bell, famous actor and voice actor, hosted the events. There was even a new record set, for the youngest individual award winner. According to the Los Angeles Times, his name is Owen Cooper. He is 16 years old, breaking the previous record of 20 years old, by Kate Winslet.
The award for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role went to Michael B. Jordan, starring in Sinners. This was extremely unprecedented, because he was not favored for this award. The winner everybody expected was Timothee Chalamet, for his performance in Marty Supreme, so it was a very big upset.
The winner for Best Female Actor in a Leading Role was Jessie Buckley for her performance in Hamnet. She was favored to win by a wide margin so that wasn’t too much of a surprise. Overall, this year’s Sag-Aftra awards had some unexpected turns and important moments, and was a very engaging watch.
