Hacky sacking is a sport that consists of kicking and trying to keep a ball made of multiple little beads in the air. There are many different tricks and moves you can do such as the umbrella, inside kick, outside kicks, toe kick, toe stall, inside stall, and the outside stall. A stall is when you catch the ball on a part of your body other than your hand and hold it there before popping it back up in the air.
The sport is usually played with a circle of multiple people, but can also be played alone, though it is a lot harder. The sport originated by a person named Mike Marshall who told his friend John Stalberger to help recover his injured knee. He got the idea from a Native-American hobby.
It got popular in the early 1980’s and got unpopular in the late 1990’s. Although, it has made a recent comeback with Gen Z. It is getting driven by social media such as TikTok and Instagram. The demand for them has gone up even since it got popular again, so they are incredibly hard to find.
